SEMARNAT-authorized plant for heat treatment of wood packaging. Here we explain the standard, the mark and the process, plainly.
MX-1669 HT
Valid until: [dd/mm/yyyy] · Verifiable in the SEMARNAT registry
It is the Mexican standard that sets the phytosanitary measures for wood packaging used in international trade: pallets, crates, skids and dunnage. It requires the wood to receive a pest-eliminating treatment and to be marked with a recognized stamp.
Only plants authorized and audited by SEMARNAT may apply the treatment and stamp the mark. The authorization number identifies the plant responsible for each pallet.
It is the FAO/IPPC international standard that most countries require for wood packaging. NOM-144 is Mexico's implementation of that standard: complying with NOM-144 at an authorized plant is what gives the mark ISPM-15 validity before US, Canadian or European customs.

How to read the mark
The wheat symbol: identifies that the mark follows the international standard.
ISO code of the country where the wood was treated: Mexico.
The plant's authorization number. It lets you trace who treated the pallet.
Treatment type: Heat Treatment. The alternative, MB (methyl bromide), is being phased out.
The mark must appear on at least two opposite sides of the pallet, legible and permanent. Labels and hand-drawn marks are not accepted.
Process
New or recycled pallets enter the process yard identified by batch.
Stacked with spacers so hot air circulates through all the wood.
Probes at the center of the wood log temperature; the cycle only counts once the core reaches 56 °C.
Each piece receives the MX-1669 HT mark and the batch is recorded in a log auditable by SEMARNAT.
Batch record: temperature chart, start and end time, and number of pieces. Available to any customer who requests it for an audit.

Yes. Without a legible ISPM-15 mark on every pallet, US customs (CBP/APHIS) can return or destroy the shipment at the exporter's expense.
The standard requires 30 minutes with the wood core at 56 °C; the full kiln cycle, including heating and verification, takes several hours. We keep HT inventory at the plant for immediate delivery.
Only if they go through the treatment and receive the mark. A recycled pallet without a valid mark from our plant does not comply.
